The Dining Experience...
Fabulous Dinner Parties...
|
We are as passionate about food as we are about skiing! You can be rest assured of consistently high quality, healthy, delicious meals at Chalet Marigold. Almost all our food is homemade, including kiddie’s meals, the croissants are made by a traditional French bakery and baked fresh in the chalet. We aim to provide you with nutritionally balanced delicious meals. We cater for all kinds of diets: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free etc. just let us know your requirements on the Booking Form. If you have any food allergies, intolerances or dislikes, let us know as soon as possible so we can plan a lovely menu for you to avoid disappointment. We believe in steaming vegetables where possible to retain their vitamin and mineral content and garnish to enhance their flavours. All ingredients are bought locally with the minimum of packaging.
Every day (apart from the chalet hosts day off) you can expect breakfast with hot croissants, afternoon tea with freshly baked cakes and biscuits and a stylish candlelit five course dinner party. There is also a fresh fruit bowl available at all times. Dinner is a hearty, wholesome meal. We know how important it is to eat well after a day on the mountain. Dinner commences with aperitifs and canapés, followed by a tasty starter, a scrumptious main course, a dessert to die for and if you’re still hungry there’ll be a cheeseboard with local specialities to sample. Your meal will be served with some delightful local Savoie wines direct from a local vineyard, selected after lots of diligent tastings, the perfect accompaniment to your meal.
We have been preparing chalet meals for the last eight seasons in the French Alps, so be prepared for mouth-watering food every day. We also run the very successful Ultimate Chalet Host Cookery Course outside of the winter season which teaches budding chalet hosts how to cook tasty and nutritious meals for large numbers and how to run a chalet. So you can expect a high standard of cuisine, with attention being paid to the quality of the ingredients which will always be fresh, chosen by us.
´If you have ever been subject to tired, poorly produced veggie food with little thought given to presentation, taste and nutrients whilst on a ski holiday as I have been in the past, then book into Chalet Marigold and be prepared to have a taste bud explosion! Every evening I sat down to wonderful food that had been thoughtfully produced and presented using local fresh produce. The Kidney Bean Kievs were a first for me and were absolutely delicious…I begged for the recipe! The Mushroom Rissotto was cooked to perfection and not a stuffed pepper in sight all week! On a previous ski holiday I was given a stuffed pepper 3 times!!! Mike and Laura´s genuine passion for good quality food and relaxed, friendly dining served up with lashings of good quality wine ensured I never went hungry. The veggie food here is great and guess what, I am going back for more!´

For the kiddies…
At Chalet Marigold we firmly believe that your kids are on holiday too and we go to great lengths to make sure they are fed home made, well balanced, tasty and nutritious meals with yummy desserts you’ll want to eat yourselves! High teas are normally served at an earlier time of 6pm. We will talk to you about what kinds of foods your kids enjoy eating.
What the kids can expect:
Home-made chicken nuggets
with cheesy mash
and steamed broccoli…
Chunky Chocolate Mousse Heaven
Chalet hosts night off…
One day a week (normally Thursday)the chalet hosts have a much deserved rest. Breakfast is self-service without a hot option laid out the previous night. Afternoon Tea will be available as usual. The evening is a great chance to sample the Savoyard cuisine and we can recommend and book a lovely restaurant for you. Since you will also be sampling local specialities at lunchtime, we prefer not to cook dishes such as Tartiflette or Raclette in the evening unless you request it!
Your chalet hosts join you for dinner in the chalet. There is an Honesty Bar in the chalet which offers you the all important beers, wines, soft drinks and snacks. If you have any further requirements or ideas to make your holiday extra special, please call us and we will be more than happy to fulfil your wishes…
Special Dates...
Christmas and New Year are particularly special times in our chalets. We lovingly decorate the chalets and have a large tree in the lounge (which the kids can help decorate for an extra treat!) Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon are a favourite for breakfast and there will be a traditional Christmas Dinner cooked for you, with mince pies and Christmas Pudding. New Year´s Eve always goes off with a bang! You can also expect a nice surprise if you are with us on Valentines Day, Pancake Day and Easter.
Birthdays and Anniversaries…
For that extra attention to detail and personal service we will gladly help you celebrate and enjoy those special occasions. We decorate a cake and serve champagne on birthdays or anniversaries.
